Premium Shade Solutions for Outdoor Living

Good shade transforms an outdoor space, turning a sun-baked deck into somewhere you can genuinely relax, dine and entertain right through the day. Our outdoor umbrellas are premium cantilever designs from Jardinico, chosen for their elegant looks, considered engineering and ability to handle New Zealand conditions. With a side-mounted post rather than a central pole, a cantilever umbrella keeps the space beneath the canopy completely open, so it floats over a dining setting, a lounge or a poolside without a pole in the way. And because the canopy rotates a full 360 degrees and tilts, you can follow the sun across the day and keep your space shaded without moving the base.

    Built for the Outdoors

The right table comes down to how many people you seat, how you like to entertain, and the space you have to work with.

    Powder-Coated Aluminium Frame

The full aluminium frame is finished with a structured, coloured powder coating, using a technique also found in marine applications. This makes it highly resistant to corrosion under New Zealand's varied weather, as well as water repellent, and stain and scratch resistant. It is suitable for year-round outdoor use and easy to clean and maintain.

    Quality Canopy Fabric

The canopy uses quality outdoor fabric with a surface finish that makes it water and stain repellent, and a reverse-side coating that adds water resistance, helps it resist mildew, and keeps drying time to a minimum. It is designed to hold its colour and performance through sun and rain.

    Why Choose a Cantilever Umbrella?

A cantilever umbrella, sometimes called an offset or side-post umbrella, is designed around flexibility.

    Open space underneath

With the post set to the side, there is no central pole to work around. The canopy floats above your furniture, so you can shade a full dining table, a lounge setting or a group of loungers with nothing interrupting the space below.

    Follows the sun

A 360 degree rotation and tilt mechanism lets you move the shade as the sun moves through the day, keeping your space comfortable from a bright morning through to a low evening sun, all without shifting the base.

    Elegant and considered

A cantilever umbrella is a design statement in its own right, with clean lines and a refined presence that lifts the look of a deck, terrace or poolside.

    Common Questions About Outdoor Umbrellas

    What is a cantilever umbrella?

A cantilever umbrella, also called an offset or side-post umbrella, has its supporting post set to the side rather than through the centre of the canopy. This keeps the space underneath completely open, so it can shade a dining table, lounge or poolside without a pole in the way. Most cantilever umbrellas, including ours, also rotate and tilt so you can follow the sun through the day.

What is the difference between a cantilever umbrella and a centre-pole umbrella?

A centre-pole umbrella, sometimes called a market umbrella, has a pole running through the middle of the canopy, usually through a hole in a dining table. A cantilever umbrella has the post set to one side, leaving the area beneath the canopy open and giving you the flexibility to shade seating, loungers or a table without a central pole. Cantilever designs also tend to offer more adjustment, with rotation and tilt to track the sun.

What size outdoor umbrella do I need?

Size your umbrella to the area you want to shade rather than to a single table. Because a cantilever umbrella rotates and tilts, you can cover a whole zone and adjust the shade through the day. As a general guide, a canopy of around 3 metres suits a standard dining or lounge setting, with larger canopies for more generous spaces. Measure your area and allow room for the canopy to rotate freely.

Do I need a base for a cantilever umbrella?

Yes. Because the canopy extends out to the side, a cantilever umbrella needs a substantial base to stay stable and balanced. Bases are selected to suit the umbrella and how it is installed, from freestanding weighted bases to in-ground and on-ground mounting options. Our team can help you choose the right base for your umbrella and your space.

Are your outdoor umbrellas suitable for the New Zealand climate?

Yes. Our Jardinico umbrellas use a powder-coated aluminium frame, finished with a technique also used in marine applications for excellent corrosion resistance, along with a quality water and stain repellent canopy. They are made for year-round outdoor use in New Zealand conditions. As with any umbrella, we recommend closing it in strong wind and using a protective cover when it is not in use to get the longest life from it.
