As autumn draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on some of the beautiful projects our team have been working on across the season.

We spoke with a selection of our interior designers from around New Zealand to hear more about the spaces they’ve been shaping, each one considered, personal, and thoughtfully resolved. These projects highlight the value of careful material selection, collaboration, and a design approach tailored to the way each client lives. Read on to discover how our designers have approached these unique spaces, and perhaps find ideas that resonate with your own home.

Anna’s Interior Design Project

Anna’s client first came into the store with architectural plans for a new build, already envisioning a wall of sheer curtains to soften the interior and provide protection from heat and glare. At just over 12 metres wide, this was the largest set of doors Anna had furnished, a scale that presented a rewarding design challenge.

The fabric chosen was James Dunlop Cavalier sheer, selected for its elegant drape and ability to gently filter sunlight. An inverted pleat was specified, with the track fixed directly to the ceiling, creating a refined look with generous volume and a sense of calm continuity.

The wide-width sheer is predominantly woven in polyester, offering the look and handle of fine linen while standing up to New Zealand’s environmental conditions. This approach was carried through to the bedrooms with subtly varied sheer textures on double tracks, and finished with Santa Fe shutters in the bathrooms.

Bathrooms are often overlooked when windows are frosted, but shutters add a layer of detail that feels quietly luxurious. Finished in fresh white, they reflect light beautifully while providing privacy and insulation. Made from waterproof materials with stainless steel hinges, they are well suited to wet areas and elevate the space in a way that feels both practical and considered.

Nicola’s Interior Design Project

Nicola's client had a clear vision from the outset, wanting a practical, family-friendly space layered with warm neutrals and playful pops of earthy colour. This project centred on the curtains and kitchen bench seating for a family home defined by strong architectural lines and generous curves.

Nicola worked closely with the client, using inspiration images of sofas to guide the selection of fabrics for the high angled window, sunken lounge and children’s bedrooms. With gentle curves, warm neutrals, and earthy colours throughout, Nicola carefully selected fabrics that soften the space, while enhancing the home’s natural light and architectural features. Easy-care fabrics were prioritised to suit everyday family life, with selections including Warwick Burano in Eggshell, Charles Parsons Paddington in Nougat, and Tahiti Brick upholstery for the kitchen bench seat. Together, these elements add warmth, texture and personality, while sitting comfortably within the home’s existing design.

Renee’s Interior Design Project

Renee’s project began with her client’s purchase of a Profile Furniture Braque sofa to refresh their holiday home in Ōhope. After living with the new piece, the client returned to the store to complete the space and bring the room together.

After reviewing images of the home, Renee invited the client in-store and presented a curated selection of pieces she felt would best suit the setting. Trusting Renee’s vision, the client moved forward with her recommendations, including a darker coffee table finish. While initially hesitant, Renee felt the depth of dark walnut would sit more naturally within the space than oak.

Once everything was in place, the client shared how beautifully the rug, ottoman and table had transformed the room. She especially loved how the walnut finish echoed the sofa legs and connected with the darker detailing around the fireplace. Though nervous at first, she was delighted with the result, a thoughtful decision that brought warmth and cohesion to the living space.
